Through the years Claritus grew from humble beginnings with a handful of employees into a leader in the mailing equipment industry.

In an industry monopolized by one competitor, Claritus has carved a majority market share in mid-commercial postage meter customers, according to information provided by the United States Post Office.

It’s no accident Claritus has been able to dominate its market – it hinges on providing customers with excellent, friendly service and innovative technology.

Claritus began in 1982 as Systems Unlimited in Sioux Falls, S.D. Dave Herbert and Jeff Krell purchased the company in 1987. With only two other employees the company continued to expand into Nebraska and Iowa with the purchase of Modern Office Services in 1997 and the aquistion of NBE’s mailing division in 2006.  Claritus now has over 40 employees with a total of 4 locations in IA, NE, and SD.

In 2002, Dave and Jeff changed their company’s name to Claritus. They based their company’s new name on the results of customer surveys, combining the five key words that kept coming up – clarity, innovation, technology, you and us.

The name Claritus was chosen because it has no boundaries. It’s a created word that contains the roots ‘clarity’ and ‘us.’ We provide clear, concise thinking – clarity – to our customers, whom we consider friends and colleagues – us. And clarity and friendship are two concepts that are timeless.

Employees and loyal customers are the core strength of Claritus. Sales and service are ranked as excellent by 96 percent of Claritus’ customers. The company’s ongoing   attention to customer service has been exemplified with many industry awards and recognition as a “Star” dealership in the mailing equipment industry.
